Overseasidol.com — Chinese pop sensation G.E.M. has officially shared that she is now legally allowed to re-record her early works, ending a six-year-long legal dispute with her former management company.
The news sparked widespread attention online, with fellow artist Li Ronghao reposting her announcement and encouraging her with the words.
In a heartfelt long post, G.E.M. revealed that she had not received any royalties for her older songs for more than six years.
She traced the issue back to a contract she signed at just 15 years old, an agreement she once made out of trust, but which turned into a lock that kept her away from her own musical children.
“This isn’t a story of revenge,” G.E.M. wrote. “It’s a story of resurrection, of reclaiming what was lost, of a reunion with the music I once birthed but had been separated from,”.
