Overseasidol.com — On June 18, G.E.M.’s former label Hummingbird Music issued a statement demanding the removal of all her re-recorded songs from streaming platforms.

Hummingbird Music believes that their former artist has violated the law of copyright.

The violations include remaking the same work and uploading without permission from the copyright owner.

In response, G.E.M. clarified that the re-recordings were made in full compliance with Chinese copyright law, and appropriate royalties were paid.

She emphasized that the broadcasting rights of her works are now managed by the CASH (Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong), making the re-released tracks fully legal for global distribution.

G.E.M. firmly stated in her media social, “I will not take the songs down!,”.

She also called on Hummingbird to settle unpaid royalties and urged fans to support her new album “I AM GLORIA”, a re-recorded project close to her heart.

“This is not a revenge story. It’s about resurrection and reclaiming what was once lost.

Support a creator reclaiming her voice. Support a mother fighting to bring her ‘children’ home,” she wrote.
