Overseasidol.com — Taiwanese actress and host Sandy Wu has come under fire after a controversial incident on the variety show “Dee Girls Talk”.

During a comedic segment, she jokingly compared her co-host Patrick to popular singer-actor Liu Yuning.

As part of the skit, Sandy grabbed a photo of Liu Yuning, placed it on the floor, and stepped on it until it tore apart as a playful punishment for Patrick.

The act sparked outrage among Liu Yuning’s fans, who viewed it as highly disrespectful and offensive toward the star.

Social media was quickly filled with demands for a formal apology from both Wu Shanru and the show’s production team.

In response, the production team issued a public apology, admitting that the scene resulted from post-production oversight.

They acknowledged failing to properly consider the artist’s image and the audience’s reaction, promising to exercise greater caution in the future.

Sandy Wu also personally apologized via social media.

She explained that the act was purely part of the show’s visual design and spontaneous humor, with no ill intent toward Liu Yuning.

“I failed to consider the audience’s feelings and made an inappropriate joke, which caused discomfort. I am truly sorry,” she wrote.

The incident has since become a trending topic, with many viewers calling on variety shows to be more cautious with their content, ensuring respect for artists while avoiding upsetting their audiences.
