Overseasidol.com — Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh recently opened up about her evolving outlook on life and mortality following the passing of her beloved “godfather,” veteran actor Hui Siu-Hung.
The actress shared that the recent losses of several senior figures in the industry have given her deeper insight into the inevitable transitions that come with age.
Recalling the emotional moments during Hui Siu-Hung’s memorial service, Charmaine expressed a longing for earlier, simpler times.
“On the day of his vigil, I chatted with friends and said how much I wished I could return to my thirties. Back then, everything felt joyful dating, getting married, welcoming new life.
But as we enter another stage of life, we start encountering more farewells and separations. I’m still learning to adjust and trying to return to my daily routine,” she shared.
Despite the sorrow, Charmaine admitted that these experiences have made her appreciate life even more. She believes that aging and death are natural cycles everyone must face.
“Since life is short, we should do more meaningful things help others, and do what truly fulfills us,” she said.
In a candid revelation, Charmaine disclosed that she has already prepared her will.
“I finalized it not long ago. I’ve worked so hard all these years, so if something happens to me, I don’t want my life savings to go to waste.
I want everything to be arranged according to my wishes,” she explained.
Over the past two years, Charmaine has intentionally cut her workload in half to spend more quality time with her family.
Although she is not married and does not have children, she insists that she feels no regret.
“My desire for motherhood is not as strong as it used to be. I see my friends with kids they’re happy, yes, but the physical, emotional, and time commitment is enormous. It’s more exhausting than filming.
I know myself, and I’m not someone who thrives under that kind of pressure,” she admitted.
