Overseasidol.com — Chinese actress Zhang Yuqi has come under intense public scrutiny after a series of allegations made by Ge Xiaoqian, the former wife of Zhang’s ex-husband, resurfaced online and triggered widespread discussion.
The issue quickly gained traction on social media and was even linked by netizens to her possible appearance at a television gala event.
On January 24, Ge Xiaoqian posted on social media claiming that in October 2024 she received an anonymous call from someone using a voice changer.
She alleged that the caller knew detailed information about her home address and family members, and ended the call with a brief but chilling message.
Ge said she was frightened and immediately reported the matter to the police.
In a later post, she stated that, according to what she described as police investigation results, the two individuals allegedly involved in the threat were surnamed Sun and Fan, whom she identified as lawyers.
Prior to the alleged threat, Ge had publicly accused a woman surnamed Zhang of interfering in her marriage with Yuan Bayuan before their divorce was finalized.
She claimed that in 2016 she saw surveillance footage from her home showing this woman entering and leaving the residence multiple times and interacting with her children and nanny.
Ge also mentioned seeing luggage tags bearing the name “Yuqi Zhang” in photos of belongings at her home, which she cited as part of her suspicion.
In the same year, Ge made another social media post stating that “childbirth is not a business, and surrogacy is prohibited”, tagging Zhang Yuqi and questioning her stance.
She shared what she said was a notarized passport document showing the birth dates of two children only about three months apart, which she argued did not align with a typical pregnancy timeline.
These claims, however, originate solely from Ge’s statements, and there has been no official confirmation from authorities regarding the allegations.
The controversy has fueled heated online debate, with some netizens calling for Zhang Yuqi’s segment to be removed from the Liaoning Spring Festival Gala.
On January 25, Yangtze Evening News reported, after verification from multiple sources, that Zhang Yuqi was not expected to appear at the event.
