Overseasidol.com — A significant milestone has been reached in the Southeast Asian idol scene as Wida officially becomes the first Muslim member of MNL48, the Philippine sister group of AKB48.

In a recent YouTube interview, Wida shared the heartfelt story behind her decision to join the 48 Group.

Wida revealed that her biggest inspiration came from JKT48. Knowing that JKT48 has several Muslim members who continue to thrive in the idol industry gave her the confidence to pursue her own dream.

Seeing Muslim idols succeed while staying true to their identity motivated her to believe that she could do the same within MNL48.

She explained that her love for music and performing played a major role in her decision to become an idol.

Wida expressed her admiration for 48 Group songs, describing them as meaningful and uplifting. Her passion for being on stage and connecting with fans ultimately pushed her to take the leap.

Previously, MNL48 had a third-generation aspirant named Sister Isha who was also Muslim.

However, she did not continue on to become an official member. This makes Wida’s debut as the first official Muslim member in MNL48 a historic and meaningful moment for the group and its supporters.

The public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Social media threads have been filled with supportive messages, including greetings such as “Assalamualaikum Wida”.

Some fans also shared an interesting fact that JKT48 currently has around 19 Muslim members, representing approximately 42 percent of the group, highlighting the diversity within the 48 Group community.

Many fans are now hoping that Wida will one day meet or collaborate with JKT48, the group that inspired her journey.
