Overseasidol.com — The Hong Kong entertainment industry is mourning the passing of veteran actor Yau Piu, who died on the evening of February 24, 2026, at the age of 57.
The news was confirmed by his close friend, Wong Man Piu, in a statement to local media.
According to his friend, the actor suddenly felt unwell on February 12 while meeting guests at his office. His condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting him to ask for an ambulance.
Before being transported to the hospital, he had already fallen into a semi-conscious state.
Doctors later confirmed that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage.
He remained in a coma for nearly two weeks and was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m. on February 24.
Born in Xiamen, Fujian, and of Hong Kong descent, Yau began his acting journey after being admitted to TVB’s third artiste training class in 1989.
Over the years, he built a solid career through numerous television dramas that left a lasting impact on audiences.
