Overseasidol.com — Chinese actor Deng Wei has responded to the circulation of AI-generated short drama that use his likeness without permission.
On April 6, his management released an official statement denying any involvement and announcing legal action against the parties responsible.
The statement clearly emphasized that Deng Wei has never participated in any so-called AI short drama and has not authorized any third party to use his image or likeness for such content.
The management stressed that these videos were created using AI deepfake and compositing technologies, falsely portraying his involvement.
According to the agency, the unauthorized use of his image constitutes a violation of his portrait rights and reputation, potentially causing harm to his public image.
The statement also expressed concern over the role of online platforms, noting that insufficient oversight allowed the content to spread widely.
In response, Deng Wei’s team has engaged legal professionals to collect evidence and initiate legal proceedings.
They confirmed that they will pursue accountability against those involved in both the creation and distribution of the infringing content.
The studio further urged all relevant platforms and users to immediately remove and stop sharing the videos.
They also reserved the right to take additional legal measures if necessary.
