Overseasidol.com — A controversy involving cat food brand “HonestBite” and Chinese artist Hao Yiran has sparked widespread attention after a livestream host made offensive remarks about the brand’s ambassador during a broadcast.
Following the backlash, the company issued a public apology on April 16. In its statement, the brand confirmed that the livestream was immediately shut down once the incident occurred.
The host involved has been dismissed, and the management team responsible has faced strict disciplinary action.
The company also pledged to strengthen its oversight of partnered streamers and improve internal management systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
However, the response did not fully resolve the issue. Heguang Media, the agency representing Hao Yiran, released its own statement shortly afterward.
The agency argued that the brand’s actions constituted a serious breach of contract and announced the immediate termination of all cooperation with HonestBite.
Furthermore, the agency revealed that it has engaged a legal team to pursue the matter and reserves the right to take further legal action to protect the artist’s rights and reputation.
