Overseasidol.com — Indonesian idol group JKT48 has introduced a new policy to manage the digital presence of its younger members by launching shared social media accounts for those under the age of 16.
The move aims to create a safer and more controlled online environment for underage members.
Through these management-supervised accounts “@JKT48.U16”, fans can continue to follow the daily activities, updates, and behind-the-scenes moments of younger members.
The centralized system ensures that all content is monitored, reducing potential risks associated with independent social media use.
This initiative aligns with new regulations introduced by the Indonesian government.
As of March 28, 2026, authorities have enforced restrictions on social media access for users under 16 years old.
The policy, outlined in Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 and Ministerial Regulation No. 9 of 2026, requires digital platforms to deactivate personal accounts belonging to underage users.
Under the new system, JKT48 members who meet the age requirement are still allowed to maintain personal social media accounts, including eligible members from newer generations.
Meanwhile, younger members will engage with fans through the shared accounts managed by the group.
