The controversy surrounding the writer replacement for Chinese drama The First Jasmine has taken a new turn.
On June 16, writer Meng Qiqi issued a public clarification and apology to actress Bai Lu after previously suggesting that the casting process may have influenced changes to the writing team.
In her social media statement, Mengqiqi admitted that her earlier assumption was inaccurate.
She explained that her concerns were shaped by past industry experiences, including the controversy surrounding the drama Untouchable Lovers (Feng Qiuhuang), as well as misunderstandings related to communication during the production process.
After verifying the information with multiple sources, Meng Qiqi confirmed that the writer change had no connection to Bai Lu.
“Following extensive verification, I can confirm that the writer replacement was not related to Ms. Bai Lu,” she stated.
Meanwhile, another writer known by the pen name Feng Ran Bai also addressed the issue publicly.
She denied Mengqiqi’s claim of being involved as a writer for The First Jasmine.
Feng Ran Bai further rejected allegations that any cast member had influenced the replacement of the writing team.
She emphasized that claims about actors changing writers were based solely on personal speculation and lacked factual evidence. (Overseasidol.com)
