Overseasidol.com — Taiwanese actor and singer Hsueh Shih Ling, appeared at the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office on the morning of November 4.
He voluntarily came forward to give a statement regarding his alleged involvement in the military evasion case linked to the so-called “Deserter Gang”.
After questioning, prosecutors approved his release on NT$300,000 bail around noon. Whether his act qualifies as a voluntary surrender is still under review by authorities.
Shih-Ling first gained fame as part of the hip-hop group Da Mouth, which won Best Vocal Group at the Golden Melody Awards in 2008 and 2011.
Later, he transitioned into acting and received widespread acclaim.
In 2021, he won Best Actor in a Drama Series for Born into Loving Hands and Best Supporting Actor for Workers at the Golden Bell Awards.
In 2023, he again took home the Best Actor Award for his role in Taiwan Crime Stories: Derailment.
When the second wave of searches related to the military evasion case took place in May, several celebrities were detained.
At that time, Shih-Ling admitted during a fashion event that he had never served in the military.
He explained that he had planned to enlist after graduation but was diagnosed with hereditary hypertension, a condition that runs in his family.
After three medical examinations, doctors determined he was unfit for service due to potential health risks.
He added that he was initially shocked by the diagnosis but accepted the results without resentment.
Hsueh Shih Ling shared that he has since adopted a routine of regular health checkups. His blood pressure is now stable, though his latest tests revealed a slightly low red blood cell count.
