Overseasidol.com — On December 9, Chinese media reported that actress Huangyang Tian Tian has officially filed a lawsuit against Shanghai Kuanyu Digital Technology Co., Ltd., the operator of Bilibili.
Court documents reveal that the case, involving alleged online infringement and cyber harassment, is scheduled for its first hearing on January 19, 2026.
The lawsuit stems from a flood of defamatory posts, insulting comments, and malicious rumors directed at Huang and her fanbase on the Bilibili platform following the “expensive earrings controversy” that erupted in May 2025.
According to the complaint, Bilibili failed to implement effective moderation, allowing harmful content to spread unchecked.
This prolonged wave of negativity reportedly caused “irreversible psychological damage” to the young actress and her supporters.
In July 2025, official investigations clarified that the earrings at the center of the controversy were glass imitations worth approximately 300 yuan, far from the luxury item initially rumored.
The report also confirmed that Huangyang Tian Tian’s father, Yang Wei, had engaged in minor business violations, earning around 30,000 yuan, which authorities later confiscated.
He was also found to have concealed certain birth-related information, though no evidence of corruption or misuse of privilege was identified.
Despite these government findings, some online users continued to question the transparency of the investigation, fueling ongoing debates and further online attacks targeting Huang and her fan community.
The upcoming January 2026 trial is expected to draw significant public attention, as the case touches on broader issues surrounding digital platform responsibility, cyberbullying prevention, freedom of expression, and legal protections for public figures in the age of social media.
