Recently, a surveillance video allegedly showing him with a woman at a five-star hotel in Hubei was leaked online, sparking widespread discussion.
According to reports, Zi Yu and his team checked into the hotel on September 22.
Shortly after, someone released edited footage from the hotel’s surveillance system, claiming it showed the actor bringing a woman back to his room.
His management company responded swiftly on October 15, condemning the privacy violation and confirming that they had filed a police report immediately after discovering the first leak.
Authorities concluded the initial investigation on September 26, but the video resurfaced on October 14, prompting the company to take further legal action.
The statement emphasized that the police are now pursuing accountability from the hotel on several fronts, including civil compensation, administrative penalties, and potential criminal charges.
The full, unedited footage reportedly shows Zi Yu walking through the hotel with his manager, assistant, and several staff members all behaving normally.
However, the leaked version had been maliciously edited to show only Zi Yu and a female staff member walking side by side, fueling false rumors about his private life and leading to online harassment.
Zi Yu’s agency urged the public not to spread or believe in unverified content and stated that they will continue to protect their artist’s rights through legal means.
