Overseasidol.com — Controversy has surrounded the Chinese drama “Love’s Ambition” after several bloggers and creators accused the production team of using their works without authorization.
The issue gained attention on October 3, when illustrator Shupu Kun posted on social media, claiming that his drawings appeared in multiple episodes of the series as props.
He stated that he was unaware of this until fans pointed it out to him.
Shortly after, Bein., a mentor from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, revealed that his commercial fashion design draft had also been taken and used in the drama.
He stressed that his work was directly copied without any modification or prior communication, raising questions about the production team’s professional standards.
Photographer TStone later added to the accusations, saying that his ethnic-themed fashion photography was used as a “reference image” for a startup project scene involving the female lead’s team.
He described the act as disrespectful to his creative rights and highlighted the importance of protecting original works in the entertainment industry.
Although all three creators confirmed that they have since reached private settlements with the drama team, the production side has not yet released any public response.
This lack of transparency has led to discussions among netizens, many of whom argue that public acknowledgment and apology should be made.
The incident has reignited debates over intellectual property protection in Chinese entertainment.
Many fans and industry observers point out that such cases are not isolated, as similar disputes have emerged in the past involving both TV dramas and films.
The controversy around “Love’s Ambition” is now seen as a reminder that respecting artists’ rights is essential for the growth of a healthy and creative industry.
