Overseasidol.com — Recently, Chinese celebrity Huang Zitao garnered attention after selling sanitary pads for just one cent during a livestream session.
During the broadcast, approximately 49,500 sets were sold to customers as free trial samples.
Huang and his team claimed that the product was of “medical grade” and had passed multiple safety tests. However, medical professionals clarified that the term “medical grade” is not a national standard but rather a group-specific classification.
Despite not being an official national designation, the product’s microbiological standards were said to be on par with those required for disinfected sanitary pads as regulated by national health authorities.
This suggests the product is still considered safe for use.
Nonetheless, doctors emphasized that neither “medical grade” nor “disinfected grade” implies that the pads are completely sterile.
In fact, for everyday use, most people do not need sterile or disinfected sanitary pads, those that meet regular safety standards are already sufficient and safe for general use.
