Overseasidol.com — Thailand’s film industry is heating up with the release of the first official trailer for “Onethong”, one of the most anticipated blockbusters set for 2026.
The movie marks the debut feature film from Black Dragon Entertainment, directed by Mook Piyakarn, known for Long Live Love!, and produced by Julian Jeong, the acclaimed executive producer behind the global hits Parasite, Snowpiercer, The Admiral, and The Host.
The newly released trailer showcases a grand-scale production with a modern aesthetic, dynamic cinematography, and impressive visual effects.
Viewers also get a glimpse of the cast in roles that differ dramatically from anything they’ve done before.
The iconic character Wan Thong is brought to life by beloved singer Ink Waruntorn, marking her first major film role.
She stars alongside top Thai actors Mark Prin as “Khun Phaen” and Gulf Kanawut as “Khun Chang”.
Also appearing are Primmy Wipawee as “Saithong” and Foei Pattra as “Janson.”
“Onethong” reinvents the traditional Thai legend with a refreshing narrative twist.
Instead of portraying Onethong as a woman with “two hearts”, the story centers on Phimlada, a young woman from the modern world who unexpectedly travels back in time and becomes entangled in the toxic love triangle between Onethong, Khun Phaen, and Khun Chang.
Aware that the original tale ends with Wan Thong’s execution, Phimlada decides to rewrite history, shaping Wan Thong’s destiny using her own voice, heart, and choices.
Director Mook Piyakarn shared that this project allowed her to continue exploring themes she didn’t fully express in her previous work.
She added that the film aims to present a healthier understanding of relationships between men and women, offering a more balanced and empathetic perspective on love, freedom, and personal agency.
