Overseasidol.com — On May 19, popular K-pop idol Song Yuqi, a member of (G)I-DLE, issued a heartfelt apology to her fans following backlash over comments she made during a recent variety show appearance.

The controversy stemmed from her candid remarks on the YouTube program “Salon Drip,” hosted by comedian Jang Do Yeon.

During the episode, Yuqi discussed the internal concert ticketing policy at her agency, revealing that even group members were only allotted four complimentary tickets, with the rest needing to be purchased out-of-pocket.

Her comment that the company was a “stingy miser” was intended as a joke, but it drew criticism from fans who interpreted it as tone-deaf or indicative of special privileges, particularly given how difficult it is for fans to secure tickets.

In a follow-up fan meeting, Song Yuqi addressed the issue directly.

“I truly didn’t mean it that way,” she began. “I was just trying to be funny on a variety show. I was overly excited and got carried away.

Please don’t misunderstand—I deeply care about how fans feel,” she said.

Yuqi explained that her intention was to express how essential fans are to any concert’s success, and that the “stingy” comment was simply a misjudged attempt at humor.

“I know some fans were probably hurt or disappointed by what I said. I sincerely apologize. I’ve always tried my best to take care of my fans and their feelings,” she added.

The artist also reflected on the importance of choosing words carefully, especially in public settings, and vowed to be more cautious going forward to avoid misunderstandings and protect the bond with her fanbase.
