Overseasidol.com — The new spy drama “Silent Honor” officially premiered on September 30, 2025, on CCTV-8, iQIYI, and Migu Video.
The series is jointly produced by iQIYI and Ciwen Media, with the support of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department and Jiangxi Radio and Television Bureau.
Directed by Yang Yazhou and written by Lu Min with co-writers Zhang Yu, Wang Haotian, and Liu Jingyun, the drama stars Yu Hewei, Wu Yue, Vision Wei Chen, and Zeng Li, with supporting performances from Yu Ailei, Long Ni, and Na Zidong.
The story is set around 1949 during the final stage of the Chinese Civil War, focusing on the hidden intelligence front in Taiwan.
It is the first major TV series dedicated to depicting the struggles of underground Communist Party members in Taiwan before and after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Inspired by the real stories of martyrs Wu Shi, Zhu Feng, Chen Baochang, and Nie Xi, the drama portrays their mission to secretly deliver vital military intelligence to the mainland.
General Wu Shi, portrayed by Yu Hewei, is appointed as Deputy Minister of Defense under the Nationalist Government by Chiang Kai-shek.
Following orders from the Party, he goes to Taiwan to obtain critical intelligence. With the help of Zhu Feng, played by Wu Yue, he sends reports about troop deployments on Kinmen Island and the movements of Nationalist forces in the Southwest Campaign.
In February 1950, Wu Shi, Zhu Feng, Chen Baochang, and Nie Xi were betrayed and arrested in Taipei.
They sacrificed their lives, but their intelligence contributed to the successful liberation of the Zhoushan Islands by the People’s Liberation Army.
Silent Honor not only revisits a heroic chapter of history but also pays tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who dedicated their lives to the cause of national reunification.
