Overseasidol.com — At the 27th Taipei Film Festival press conference on May 6, Taiwanese actress Song Yunhua shared a deeply personal revelation: between the ages of 28 and 31, she seriously considered retiring from showbiz.
“I felt completely drained. I couldn’t find the right attitude toward life or acting. The only way out I could think of was retirement,” she admitted candidly.
Haunted by the fear of making mistakes and constantly giving the “right” answers in interviews, Song decided to study abroad in the United States to rediscover herself.
“I started from scratch – I didn’t even know how to drive, and my cooking was terrible,” she recalled.
She also said, “But I realized that making mistakes isn’t the end of the world,”.
One transformative moment was her visit to the iconic Coachella music festival, where a performance by Lady Gaga deeply moved her.
“Her show was like a piece of art – it shook me to my core,” she said.
Now 32 and back in Taiwan, Song stars in the Taipei Film Festival’s promotional video alongside director Lin Junyang.
As the festival ambassador, she returns with a fresh mindset and rekindled excitement for her work.
“For the first time in a long while,” she shared, “I’m looking forward to going to work,”.
