Overseasidol.com — Actor Win Metawin, the newest supporter of UNHCR Thailand, recently visited the Mae La Temporary Shelter in Mae Sot District, Tak Province.
This was his first on-site visit to learn about and understand the daily lives and struggles of refugees living in Thailand.
The visit marks an important milestone in Win’s new role as a UNHCR supporter and comes at a hopeful time following the Thai Cabinet’s approval allowing refugees from Myanmar to work legally in the country.
This policy represents a major step forward in promoting human dignity and fundamental human rights.
During the trip, Win interacted with refugees by playing football, engaging in crafts, and chatting with young people and families in the camp.

Win Metawin shared his determination to use his public platform to raise awareness about refugee issues.
He expressed his commitment to serve as a “voice” for refugees in Thailand and around the world, aiming to foster empathy and understanding among the broader public.
Refugee camps began appearing along the Thailand-Myanmar border in the 1980s and continue to exist today.
Most of them live in huts made of bamboo, wood, and leaves, with very limited electricity and clean water facilities.
