Overseasidol.com — On September 8, Chinese actor Xu Kai became the subject of heated online discussions after a gossip outlet accused him of long-term gambling activities.

The report claimed that Xu Kai often hosted card games with wagers worth tens of thousands of yuan. His luxury residence in Hengdian was even described as a private “casino.”

In response, Xu Kai’s agency released a stern official statement. The company clarified that allegations of “long-term gambling,” “running a casino,” and “criminal involvement” were completely inconsistent with the facts.

They also warned those spreading false rumors and announced plans to take legal action to protect Xu Kai’s reputation and legal rights.

The controversy gained further attention as Xu Lisha, Xu Kai’s former girlfriend, had previously accused him of cheating during their relationship.

She also demanded a public apology, stating that Xu Kai should admit to hurting her.

Police issued a reminder about the high risks of gambling. Offenders may face up to 15 days of detention and fines of up to 3,000 yuan.

For criminal cases, the punishment could reach up to 3 years in prison, or even 10 years in severe circumstances.

A criminal record can also affect future opportunities, including careers, education, overseas study, immigration, and entry into certain professions.
