Overseasidol.com — The upcoming drama “Light beyond the Road” directed by Li Muge and written by Rao Jun, will premiere exclusively on Tencent Video and simultaneously on Dragon TV starting October 16, 2025.

The series stars Zhang Binbin and Mao Xiaotong in the leading roles, with Liu Dan and Shao Feng as special guest stars, and Shi Yunpeng and Yang Yuxi joining the cast.

Adapted from the popular Jinjiang Literature City novel of the same name by author Mo Shubai, the drama tells the story of an ordinary couple who face life’s storms together.

It follows their emotional journey of standing by each other during their darkest moments, rediscovering love and courage amid hardship.

In the series, Zhang Binbin portrays Qin Nan, a man who lost his parents at a young age.

During his lowest point, he meets Ye Sibei (played by Mao Xiaotong), a bright and resilient woman who becomes his source of hope.

Ye Sibei grew up in a family that favored sons over daughters and spent years sacrificing for her younger brother and repaying family debts.

Ten years after first meeting in school, the two reunite and get married. However, their peaceful life is shattered when Ye Sibei becomes a victim of assault.

Despite gossip, social judgment, and family misunderstanding, Ye Sibei bravely chooses to report the crime.

Qin Nan stands firmly by her side, helping her through the investigation and court proceedings. Their love becomes a beacon guiding them out of the darkness toward a brighter future.

Director Li Muge, known for acclaimed dramas such as Goodbye My Princess and Rattan, continues his signature storytelling style that blends emotional restraint with aesthetic depth.

The Finite Years of Life captures the warmth of resilience and mutual support through its visual language from the silence at the dinner table to the gaze exchanged outside the courthouse.

Beyond its emotional core, the series also tackles real-world issues of women’s protection, juxtaposing legal, societal, and familial perspectives.
