Overseasidol.com — According to data from the Qichacha, a Chinese court released a first-instance ruling involving a copyright dispute between Siba Media and Life Style China Magazine.
The ruling shows that Siba Group requested the court to order the defendants to remove magazines featuring Ju Jingyi’s name and image.
The company also demanded the deletion of related promotional materials and compensation totaling 300,000 yuan.
Records indicate that Siba Group signed an exclusive artist contract with Ju Jingyi on August 16, 2013.
A supplementary agreement was signed on September 10, 2018, granting Siba exclusive rights to use Ju Jingyi’s name, portrait, image, and voice until August 15, 2033.
Siba claimed that during the contract period, the defendants cooperated with Ju Jingyi without authorization.
This included magazine cover shoots, editorial photos, and promotional content that were publicly distributed, prompting the lawsuit.
Following the court disclosure, Ju Jingyi released a statement through her studio. She clarified that her management contract with Siba Media had officially ended on June 15, 2024.
Although the contract was originally set to expire on June 18, it was terminated earlier due to alleged contract breaches by Siba.
Her studio accused Siba Media of forging contract documents and artist signatures.
The company was also accused of filing lawsuits against Ju Jingyi’s partners to disrupt her professional activities, which the studio described as an abuse of legal action.
The statement emphasized that all collaborations after June 15, 2024 were personally authorized by Ju Jingyi and are legally valid.
Her legal team has been appointed to handle the dispute and pursue further legal responsibility.
