Overseasidol.com — The legal battle of former SNH48 member, Fei Qinyuan, to break free from her agency’s contract has come to a dead end.

The Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court has officially rejected her appeal, ruling that her exclusive contract with SNH48 agency, Star48 (Siba Media) remains valid and legally binding.

Fei Qinyuan had previously filed a lawsuit seeking to terminate the contract, citing severe physical and mental health issues caused by intense workload and pressure.

She submitted a series of medical records spanning from 2019 to 2024 to prove she was no longer fit to continue her activities under the agency.

After unilaterally announcing her departure from the group, she reportedly began hosting independent live streams on third-party platforms like Douyin to earn a living.

However, Star48 strongly opposed the termination. The agency stated that they had invested heavily for nearly 10 years to build Fei Qinyuan’s career, yielding her a total career income of 4.19 million Yuan (approximately IDR 9.4 billion).

Star48 argued that her ability to conduct long-duration independent live streams on other platforms proved she was still highly capable of working in the entertainment industry.

In its final verdict, the judicial panel emphasized that the medical documents presented by Fei Qinyuan did not prove a total loss of working capacity.

Her unilateral move to another platform without written permission was deemed a malicious breach of contract for personal gain.
