Overseasidol.com — The four-night F4 “F✦FOREVER Stellar City” concert series at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena drew massive attention.
The concert is not only for bringing together Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Vic Zhou, and Mayday’s Ashin, but also for reigniting long-standing tensions behind the scenes.
During the final show on December 22, Ashin accidentally fell off the stage while performing. Despite sustaining a minor injury, he returned to finish the concert.
In an emotional moment afterward, Ashin expressed gratitude to his fellow performers and made a point of thanking Ken Chu, who was unable to join the project this time
. The gesture was widely interpreted as an attempt to ease tensions and extend an olive branch.
Ashin shared that he would soon resume activities with Mayday and that the night might be his last appearance on the “Stellar City” stage.
He acknowledged that the current lineup might not fully meet fans’ expectations, but emphasized his commitment to continuing efforts to deliver the memories and moments fans hope for. His remarks were seen by many as leaving the door open for a full F4 reunion in the future.
However, Ken’s response quickly became a talking point. When fans in his VIP group mentioned Ashin’s comments, Chu replied bluntly that he had received no direct communication and described the remarks as mere “polite stage talk.
The brief but pointed reaction immediately fueled heated discussion online.
The tension traces back to earlier developments. After F4 reunited on stage at Mayday’s Taipei Dome concert in July, rumors surfaced about new projects, including fresh music and a possible tour.
Ken Chu had previously confirmed the existence of a new song. Yet when the music video was released, his name was absent, with Ashin joining instead, and the track composed by Jay Chou.
This outcome sparked disappointment, prompting Ken’s wife to publicly defend his efforts and sacrifices.
In the months that followed, Ken openly accused executives at Believe Music of spreading negative rumors after he declined certain requests.
