Overseasidol.com — Chinese actor Jin Dong has once again raised concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence technology, particularly AI face-swap and deepfake tools.
He addressed the issue during the 2026 session of Two Sessions China held in Beijing.
Speaking to reporters on March 9, Jin Dong who serves as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) acknowledged that defending his rights against such misuse has been extremely challenging.
When asked about protecting his personal image from AI manipulation, he responded that the process is “very difficult.”
The actor has become one of the most prominent victims of AI deepfake abuse in China.
In several cases, criminals reportedly used AI face-swapping technology along with voice cloning to create fake videos and audio impersonating him.
These manipulated videos were then circulated on short-video platforms and used as part of online scams.
Reports indicate that the schemes primarily targeted middle-aged and elderly women, who were emotionally manipulated before being persuaded to send money or participate in illegal investment schemes.
Jin Dong has spoken about this issue multiple times in the past.
During the 2026 Two Sessions China meeting, he once again called for stronger legal regulations governing the use of AI technologies, particularly those capable of manipulating faces and voices.
According to him, while artificial intelligence offers many benefits, its rapid development also requires stronger legal safeguards to prevent abuse.
His call for legislation targeting deepfake technology has drawn widespread attention, with many observers agreeing that stricter regulations are necessary to protect the public from increasingly sophisticated digital fraud.
