Overseasidol.com — The innovative Xianxia drama “Love in The Clouds” has officially premiered, streaming exclusively on Youku and also available on Netflix.

The series, starring Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao, is adapted from the novel of the same name by Bailu Chengshuang and serves as the first installment of the Fuguang Wonderland IP series.

According to producer Yan Bei, who is also the general manager of Orca Entertainment Galaxy Studio, the drama was built on the foundation of being “different and unconventional”.

With its “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in a xianxia world style of relationship, the show breaks away from formulaic tropes and offers fresh storytelling.

The story follows Ming Xian, a female warrior from Yaoguang Mountain. After being poisoned during the Qingyun Tournament, she loses to dark horse Ji Bozai from Jixingyuan.

To save herself, she disguises as Ming Yi and infiltrates Jixingyuan, aiming to get close to Ji Bozai and obtain the antidote.

Their relationship evolves as they probe each other with wit and suspicion, bound by a dynamic of hunter and prey.

Director Zhi Zhu infused the series with strong visual aesthetics and emotional depth. From detailed costumes to the interplay of light and shadow, the drama creates a unique Chinese artistic beauty.

Emotional moments between Ji Bozai and Ming Yi are heightened with cinematic techniques that blend subtlety and atmosphere.
