Several beloved actors, musicians, and performers have passed away this year, leaving behind timeless works that continue to shine in the hearts of fans.
Though they are gone, their legacy remains immortal through the art they created.
The year began with tragedy. On February 2, actress Barbie Hsu, widely known as Big S, passed away in Japan at the age of 48 due to flu complications.
Her portrayal of “Shan Cai” in Meteor Garden became a defining memory for an entire generation.
Just weeks later, on February 21, celebrated singer-songwriter Khalil Fong (Fang Datong) died at 41, leaving behind soulful classics such as “Three People’s Journey” and “Special Person.”
In May, the Chinese National Theatre lost its prominent actress Zhu Yuanyuan, who passed away on May 17 after a long battle with cancer.
Soon after, on May 30, veteran Hong Kong actor Fong Kong, often referred to as “TVB’s Ultimate Villain,” died at 78, remembered for his powerful performances in The Edge of Darkness and The Silver Fox.
Taiwanese musician Peter Chen followed on June 14, passing at 82, while the comedic world mourned Yang Shaohua, a beloved cross-talk performer and actor who died on July 9 at 94.
The entertainment industry was once again shocked on September 11 when actor Yu Menglong tragically fell to his death at 37, a case that remains surrounded by questions.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s TVB network suffered a major loss, with seven veteran actors passing away this year including Yu Ming, Ku Feng, Tong Kai, Suet Nay, Chow Chung, Ng Bok Kwan, dan aktor legendaris Benz Hui.
Though 2025 has been a year of goodbyes, the art these icons created continues to live on.
