Overseasidol.com — Following actor Yu Menglong’s tragic fall in September, which police classified as an accidental death caused by alcohol, online discussions have not stopped.
Numerous videos and posts continue to circulate, suggesting that the cause of death might not be as simple as reported.
Actors Fan Shiqi and Song Yiren have been dragged into the controversy, with some netizens claiming Fan Shiqi “has something to do with the incident”.
Since then, his professional career appears to have taken a sharp downturn. In his latest drama “Love’s Ambition” most of his scenes were reportedly cut, leaving him with only around 52 minutes of screen time.
His name was also moved to the bottom of the cast list on Douban, and promotional posters featuring him were removed.
A viral Weibo comment stated, “No one dares to promote Fan Shiqi’s drama anymore.
The platform didn’t replace his face or reshoot, they just left him as background. This isn’t a ban it’s a colder punishment. He’s still there, but everyone pretends not to see him,”.
Online speculation worsened after rumors claimed Fan Shiqi appeared in a dark web video linked to Yu Menglong’s death.
His social media accounts have since been flooded with protest messages and photos of Yu. Despite his efforts to delete them, the comments keep coming.
Some netizens also criticized Fan Shiqi for appearing indifferent, as he posted about being “very happy” just days after Yu Menglong’s passing.
