Overseasidol.com — On June 24, Wajijiwa Entertainment issued an official statement addressing the copyright controversy surrounding the short web drama adaptation of “Hidden Love”.

“Hidden Love for You” (2025) produced by Wajijiwa is a short remake version of the drama produced by Jinjiang Literature City “Hidden Love” which was released in 2023.

According to Wajijiwa, they signed a licensing agreement with author Zhu Yiji and Jinjiang Literature City back in 2019, and a supplementary agreement in 2024.

The contract clearly defined “audiovisual works” to include live-action films, TV series, online dramas, and web films.

Wajijiwa asserted that the short drama falls under the category of online drama, and thus complies with the licensing terms.

However, Jinjiang Literature City had earlier released a strong statement asserting that the supplementary agreement explicitly prohibits the adaptation of the licensed work into short-form web dramas or mini-dramas.

Jinjiang also declared their intent to pursue legal action to protect the rights of the original work and address any suspected infringement.

This dispute has drawn significant attention from both fans and industry professionals, once again raising questions about copyright boundaries and IP rights in the streaming era.
