Overseasidol.com — Authorities in Chiang Mai have arrested eight Chinese nationals suspected of conducting unauthorized filming activities inside a residential property.
The incident took place on May 8 after local police received a tip-off regarding suspicious activity in the area.
According to local reports, Thailand’s tourist police launched an investigation before raiding the location.
Officers discovered that the group was filming a short drama or film production, involving a team of Chinese crew members along with a Thai translator.
Despite using popular tourist attractions as filming locations, the group failed to present any valid filming permits.
Additionally, there were no government officials present to oversee the production, which is typically required for foreign filming projects in Thailand.
Further investigation revealed that the Chinese nationals had entered the country on tourist visas and did not possess valid work permits.
This violation of immigration and labor laws led to their immediate arrest.
