Overseasidol.com — Chinese actress Fan Bingbing continues to make waves on the international stage.

After receiving a Golden Horse Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in the Malaysian film Mother Bumi, she was also invited to attend the Tokyo International Film Festival, where she sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

In the interview, Fan Bingbing spoke about her experience filming Green Night and the opportunities it brought her.

When asked whether she planned to return to the Chinese film industry, she explained that the issue was not about difficulty but rather about the lack of diversity in Chinese cinema today.

Addressing the impact of her five-year absence from Chinese productions following her tax evasion controversy, Fan reflected positively on that challenging period.

She said it “opened a new window” for her and described it as “a gift”.

During that time, she explored unfamiliar themes and worked with new collaborators, experiences that helped her grow both as an actress and as a person.

Fan added that those years allowed her to pause and absorb more from life.

“As an actor, we are constantly expressing and giving out emotions, but rarely do we get the chance to absorb new experiences,” she said.

Through this quiet phase, she learned to better understand life, including its difficulties and limitations.

“There are people who give up when facing hardship,” Fan reflected. “But the brave ones become stronger. I think I’m one of the brave ones,”.
