Overseasidol.com — JKT48 successfully held its 14th Anniversary concert at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on December 20.
The event became a meaningful occasion that brought together all core members and trainees on one grand stage, while also signaling a new chapter in the idol group’s journey.
One of the most emotional moments of the concert was the graduation ceremony of JKT48’s captain, Shania Gracia, who is scheduled to officially conclude her activities with the group later this month.
Gracia, who has long served as a central figure and leader, was bid farewell with heartfelt emotions from both members and fans.
Following Gracia’s graduation, JKT48 faced the need to appoint a new captain to lead the group into its next era, known as “JKT48 Fight”.
At the end of the concert, Melody Nurramdhani Laksani officially announced that Freya Jayawardana had been chosen as the new captain after careful consideration of various factors.
Freya’s appointment was met with loud cheers from the audience. Shortly after the announcement, she took the stage to deliver her first speech as captain.
In her address, Freya expressed deep gratitude for the appreciation and trust placed in her, while acknowledging that she might not be the person many initially expected to take on the role.
She admitted that there is still much for her to learn and many skills she has yet to master. However, Freya emphasized her determination to always give her best for the group as a whole.
She also expressed hope that she could continue to grow alongside her fellow members, staff, and fans, learning together and striving to improve JKT48’s future.
With Freya stepping into the leadership role, JKT48 now moves forward into a new phase filled with renewed spirit, challenges, and strong support from its dedicated fans.
