Overseasidol.com — Jakarta-based idol group JKT48 has released an official statement addressing the illegal misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) involving several of its members.
On January 5, the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed that some members have become victims of harmful AI-generated content.
Under the title “Public Warning Regarding the Misuse of AI Technology”, JKT48 stated that it had received multiple reports of AI-manipulated content using members’ faces and identities.
The group emphasized that such content may constitute defamation, harassment, and serious legal violations under existing laws.
Following close discussions with the affected members, management decided to issue a public warning and demanded that all parties involved in creating or distributing the content immediately cease activities and permanently remove the materials.
JKT48 further warned that if the content continues to circulate within 48 hours of the announcement, the management will fully support legal action taken by the affected members.
The operational team confirmed that legal counsel will be provided throughout the entire legal process.
Specific actions subject to legal consequences include the creation of AI-generated pornographic content using members’ faces or identities, the distribution or promotion of such materials, and any posts or comments that encourage, exploit, or normalize the content.
Concluding the statement, JKT48 called on the public to help maintain a respectful and positive digital environment and expressed gratitude to fans who continue to support and protect the group.
