Overseasidol.com — The popular Chinese variety show Keep Running, also known as Running Man China, has recently come under public scrutiny after its latest episode recorded a significant drop in viewership ratings.
The third episode of Season 14, which aired on May 8, featured a football league-themed concept with main cast members including Li Chen, Zheng Kai, Sha Yi, Bai Lu, Fan Chengcheng, and Zhang Zhenyuan.
Guest appearances included Wei Daxun, Sun Qian, Zhou Jieqiong, and Xu Yiyang.
Despite offering a mix of entertaining segments such as team competitions, fun football games, and undercover missions, the episode reportedly achieved an average rating of just 0.27%.
This marks the lowest rating in the show’s 14-season history and the first time it has dropped below the 0.3% threshold.
In response to the online buzz, the show’s official social media account posted multiple updates on May 9, addressing the controversy.
The production team emphasized that the program still ranks highly on major streaming platforms and popularity charts, even if traditional TV ratings have declined.
Earlier in the season, the show had a strong start. Its premiere episode in late April gained traction with nostalgic elements such as the return of the iconic name-tag ripping game and topped several entertainment rankings.
Originally launched in 2014 by Zhejiang Television, the show is an adaptation of the South Korean hit Running Man produced by SBS.
Over the years, it has become one of China’s most recognized variety programs.
