Overseasidol.com — After the viral success of his collaboration “Butterflies” with 88rising, singer-songwriter mikah returns with a deeply emotional new track, “Escape,” now streaming on all major platforms.

The song opens the first chapter of mikah’s upcoming three-part project, “Homesick”. Escape explores the tension between chasing dreams and the longing for home.

With soft, heartfelt vocals and poetic lyrics, the track blends R&B warmth, indie pop clarity, and the raw textures of alternative rock. It’s a natural evolution from his earlier hit “so I don’t forget”, but with a wider, more cinematic sound.

The repeated line “Can I escape, is it too late” captures the inner conflict between comfort and change.

Another lyric, “I’m at home sick and I’m sick of it,” cleverly twists the meaning of “homesick”, expressing both nostalgia and frustration.

The song resonates deeply with anyone who has ever left home in search of something more.

The music video, shot on film in Yamanashi, Japan, brings the story to life with a warm, nostalgic tone.

Directed by a French creative team, the video features mikah’s real childhood friends, adding authenticity and intimacy.

Their laughter and simple moments of joy, especially in scenes of them playing soccer reflect mikah’s true self.

“That laugh was real,” he shares. “That was me,”. The video feels more like a short film, offering a glimpse of what’s to come in the next chapters of Homesick.

Fresh off his performance at JOOX TOP MUSIC NIGHT, mikah will return to Bangkok on November 1 to perform at Monster Music Festival, marking his second live appearance in the city within two months.

In mikah’s own words, “This song was inspired by my real experiences growing up in Hawaii. I went through happiness, confusion, and restlessness all at once. ‘Escape’ came from the desire to leave the place that felt safe but also held me back. Leaving home isn’t easy—but it’s where the search for your true self begins,”.

He adds, “This is for anyone who has ever left home—or dreamed of doing so. That ache for home never truly fades. It reminds us where our story began,”.
