Overseasidol.com — The upcoming family movie “Unexpected Family” has unveiled a special trailer titled “To Love, To Love”, along with a newly released poster themed “The Taste of Home”.
The preview offers a heartfelt glimpse into the lives of five individuals with contrasting personalities who unexpectedly come together under one roof and slowly form a bond resembling a family.
The trailer highlights moments of misunderstanding, conflict, and emotional friction, yet beneath it all lies a sense of warmth, acceptance, and mutual care.
The film centers on a group of strangers, each carrying their own worries and secrets, who accidentally create a “pretend family”.
Through their clumsy yet sincere interactions, what begins as a false arrangement gradually turns into genuine affection.
Written and directed by Li Taiyan, with veteran producer Han Sanping serving as executive producer, the film is produced by Shen Jingxi, Fu Ruoqing, and Gu Liang.
The cast features prominent stars including Jackie Chan, Peng Yuchang, and Zhang Jianing in leading roles, alongside Pan Binlong and Li Ping.
The story revolves around Ren Jiqing, an elderly landlord played by Jackie Chan, who mistakenly believes that young tenant Zhong Bufan is his son.
This misunderstanding snowballs as tenant Su Xiaoyue becomes the supposed daughter-in-law, real estate agent Jia Ye is seen as the son’s boss, and neighbor Jin Zhengu unexpectedly turns into family by marriage.
Though unrelated by blood, these tenants and neighbors form a temporary household, setting off a warm and touching journey.
“Unexpected Family” is set for a nationwide theatrical release on January 1, 2026, coinciding with the New Year holiday.
