Overseasidol.com — On September 30, actor William Chan shared his honest thoughts during a livestream.
He admitted that he no longer wants to take on scripts with the popular “dominant CEO” theme.
He added that such roles are risky, saying, “Honestly, I don’t want to act in them anymore, and I don’t dare to either,”.
William explained that he might still accept if the script and character are truly appealing.
He also mentioned that acting alongside talents like Zhao Lusi and Chen Chang motivated him, as he admired their past works and found them impressive.
Previously, William Chan had pointed out that CEO dramas are “dangerous” because they can easily appear exaggerated or “cringeworthy”.
Netizens reacted with mixed opinions. Some agreed that many CEO roles in recent years have become formulaic and predictable.
Others expressed support, saying William still has the charm to convincingly play such a character if the role is well-written.
