According to the reports, the incident occurred during a flight from Tokyo to New York, where Chen allegedly became upset after flight attendants prioritized a Japanese passenger for disembarkation.
He was quoted questioning, “How am I different from him? Is there a card higher than Diamond Card?” and allegedly threatened that the crew member “would lose their job,”.
In response, Chen’s manager released a statement explaining the situation.
He said that Edison was simply trying to retrieve his luggage while a passenger behind him rushed forward.
Since the cabin door hadn’t opened yet, Chen politely asked to wait until he could collect his belongings.
However, the flight attendant reportedly replied that the passenger was a Diamond Card member and entitled to early exit.
Chen, who is also a Diamond Card holder, found this explanation confusing, which may have led to a misunderstanding.
The team confirmed that they are in communication with the airline to clarify the incident.
