Overseasidol.com — Tencent Video and iQIYI have officially announced the premiere date for the new crime investigation drama The Truth.
The series will debut on February 3 and promises a fresh take on the crime genre by focusing on forensic trace analysis as the key to solving complex cases.
Produced by Tencent Video and Lao You Film, the drama is directed by Zhang Tong and written by Lin Jidong.
The main cast includes Gong Jun, Jiang Wu, and Sun Yi, with special appearances by Wang Xun, Jia Bing, and Li Jianyi.
Supporting roles are played by Zhang Kaitai, Wang Mengli, Feng Hui, Liu Hailan, and Kong Lin.
Adapted from Jiu Di Shui’s novel Corpse Case Investigation Department, the series follows a team of criminal investigators and forensic technicians who solve murder cases through meticulous examination of physical evidence.
By integrating modern forensic science with traditional investigative work, the drama delivers layered storytelling filled with twists, logic-driven deductions, and gripping suspense.
Gong Jun stars as Ye Qian, a sharp and intuitive investigator, while Jiang Wu plays Leng Qiming, a seasoned senior officer who serves as both mentor and father figure to Ye Qian.
Together, they lead a team that utilizes trace evidence analysis, imaging technology, and laboratory forensics to reconstruct crime scenes and uncover the truth behind each case.
Meanwhile, Ye Qian’s complex relationship with Dan Qing, portrayed by Sun Yi, adds emotional depth to the storyline.
