Overseasidol.com — BNK48 has officially announced their sixth studio album titled Ponytail to Shushu, scheduled for release in June 2026.

The announcement quickly drew attention from fans, especially with the confirmation of Pancake and Yoghurt as dual centers for the album.

The project marks an exciting new chapter for BNK48, bringing a classic 48 Group song into a fresh era.

The album features 18 selected members as senbatsu, combining experienced idols with rising talents within the group.

They are Janry, Arlee, Pancake, Praew, Emmy, Hoop, L, Marine, Yoghurt, Micha, Niya, Monet, Jew, Galeya, Blythe, Luksorn, Khowjow, Nammon.

This lineup reflects BNK48’s ongoing evolution and strong generational transition.

Pancake and Yoghurt’s roles as centers are seen as a perfect match for the bright, energetic image of Ponytail to Shushu, a song long associated with youth and summer vibes.

Originally, Ponytail to Shushu is the 16th single released by Japanese idol group AKB48 on May 26, 2010.

The song became one of AKB48’s most iconic summer anthems and remains beloved by fans for its cheerful melody and vibrant choreography.

The song’s popularity has led to multiple adaptations across the 48 Group overseas.

In Indonesia, JKT48 released an Indonesian-language version of Ponytail to Shushu in their first album Heavy Rotation on February 16, 2013.

Meanwhile, SNH48 and TSH48 have also performed the song in Mandarin, further expanding its global reach.
