China’s film market saw a major boost during the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival holiday, driven by the release of several highly anticipated movies, including Toy Story 5, I Know Who You Are, The Boy Who Counted Cars, Invictus, and Operation Black-Ops.
According to data from Lighthouse Professional Edition, the total box office revenue on the first day of the holiday exceeded 164 million yuan.
Disney and Pixar’s latest animated feature, Toy Story 5, dominated the daily box office with an impressive opening-day gross of 49.8 million yuan.
The film set a new record for the highest first-day earnings by an imported movie in China this year.
The opening performance significantly outpaced Toy Story 4, which earned 18.08 million yuan on its first day of release. This marks a 175 percent increase over its predecessor.
Meanwhile, family drama Dear You continued its remarkable run at the box office.
