Overseasidol.com — Japanese idol group AKB48 made headlines after appearing alongside their sister groups at a major commercial launch event in Tokyo.

The “UP-T × AKB48 Group New CM Launch Event” featured representatives from SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48, and STU48, creating a rare and highly anticipated moment for fans.

A total of 30 members from six groups took the stage, with each group sending five representatives.

This marked the first time in approximately eight years that all six groups gathered in one event, making it a significant milestone for the AKB48 franchise.

During the event, the members not only introduced their latest campaign but also engaged in fun segments, including performance battles that highlighted each group’s distinct charm and teamwork.

Oguri Yui shared that the strength of the 48 Group lies in the diversity of its members.

She emphasized that cross-group gatherings like this provide valuable opportunities to connect, especially since some members were meeting each other for the first time.

The event also featured entrepreneur Hiroyuki Nishimura, also known as Hiroyuki, who raised a bold question about why the once-popular general election system (senbatsu sousenkyo) was discontinued.

Responding with a smile, Oguri clarified that it was not due to any conflict between groups, but rather because opportunities to gather together had become rare.
