Japanese actress and former AKB48 General Manager Yokoyama Yui has announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Shota Gogami of the vocal group Junretsu.
The 33-year-old star shared the joyful news on June 15 through a joint statement posted on X.
The couple expressed their excitement about welcoming a new member to their family and said they are looking forward to this new chapter together.
In their statement, Yui and Gogami revealed that the baby is expected to arrive this autumn.
Yokoyama also assured fans that she plans to continue working while prioritizing her health throughout the pregnancy.
The couple thanked fans and industry colleagues for their continued support and asked for warm encouragement as they prepare for parenthood.
Yui and Shota Gogami announced their marriage in December 2024.
They first met while co-starring in a stage production celebrating the 150th anniversary of Meijiza in 2023.
Yokoyama Yui joined AKB48 as a ninth-generation member in 2009 and later became the group’s second General Manager.
She stepped down from the leadership role in 2019 and officially graduated from AKB48 in 2021 to focus on her acting career. (Overseasidol.com)
