Overseasidol.com — The ongoing military service evasion scandal in Taiwan has entered its third wave of arrests, drawing major public attention once again.
Following the earlier controversy involving actor Darren Wang (Wang Da-Lu), prosecutors have now detained four more celebrities Xu Jiekai, Energy’s Joe Chang, Chen Bolin, and Xiao Jie/Liljay (former member of Lollipop).
After initial questioning, Hsiu Chieh-kai, Shu-Wei, and Chen Bolin were released on bail of NT$500,000 each, while Xiao Jie was released on NT$350,000 bail, according to reports from ETtoday.
Another Energy member, Kun-Da, was also listed in this third round of investigation.
However, he is currently in Canada and has not yet appeared before prosecutors. Authorities have placed him under border control status.
Through his agency, Joe issued a public apology, admitting to his past mistake. “Fifteen years ago, I acted without careful thought and failed to recognize my social responsibility. I deeply regret disappointing the public and my fans,” he said.
He added that he has suspended all work and will return to Taiwan soon to cooperate with the investigation.
“I dare not ask for forgiveness. I only wish to face my legal responsibilities with humility and reflection,” he concluded.
