Overseasidol.com — Forty-one-year-old actor Yu Qingbin recently drew public attention after posting a video on social media.
In the video, he openly demanded payment for short drama projects he said remain unpaid.
On December 15, Yu Qingbin explained the situation to reporters. He said that in early September, he noticed a short drama casting notice in a work group.
Through an assistant director, he was introduced to the producer involved.
A contract was signed, but the producer took it back, claiming it needed an official stamp. The contract was never returned, even after filming ended.
Yu Qingbin stated that he only worked for three days and never received a copy of the agreement.
After filming wrapped, he received only the initial payment. The remaining balance was never settled.
The same producer later invited him to join a second short drama, again without providing a formal contract or paying any fees.
The total payment for both projects amounted to 16,000 yuan. Although both dramas have already been released, Yu Qingbin said the money has yet to reach him.
When he followed up, the producer initially cited delayed platform payments and later claimed company-related issues.
Recently, the producer became completely unreachable. Calls went unanswered and messages were ignored.
Yu Qingbin also revealed that other crew members were facing similar unpaid wage issues.
Through an intermediary, Yu Qingbin contacted the producer’s parent company.
The company stated that payment for the first drama had already been transferred to the producer, while funds for the second project had not yet been issued.
This raised concerns that the money may have been misused.
Yu Qingbin explained that industry norms usually require short drama payments to be settled within one month after filming.
Delays of over three months, he said, are highly abnormal. He is now considering legal action and plans to report the matter through official complaint channels in Hengdian.
The circulating video shows Yu Qingbin speaking directly to the camera with a serious tone.
He details his experience and expresses frustration over not receiving the compensation he is owed.
