She revealed that between 2023 and 2024, she was harassed by a stalker who not only tracked her down to her residential area but also found her mother’s whereabouts.
After reporting the incident to the police, it was discovered that the stalker had been following her since 2016.
For her safety, the authorities advised her to stop sharing personal content or photos from home. This experience prompted her to seriously consider leaving the public spotlight.
Zhu Rui also opened up about the challenges of securing meaningful roles.
She noted that most lead roles go to more popular actors with agency backing, leaving little opportunity for independent artists like herself.
She further stated that she avoids cameo appearances due to their limited scope, low pay, and unpredictable scheduling.
One of the most discouraging moments in her career was being praised during auditions, only to see her audition tape used to coach other actors.
The role ultimately went to someone else, which deeply affected her motivation.
Now, Zhu Rui leads a quieter life—writing novels, caring for her ill mother, and rescuing stray cats.
Despite stepping back, her performance in the ongoing drama “Lijian Meigui” continues to draw praise from viewers.
