Overseasidol.com — Chinese actor Chen Zheyuan made headlines on Lunar New Year’s Eve 2026 after giving away nearly 260,000 yuan in digital red envelopes during a Weibo livestream.

His generous gesture quickly propelled him to trending topics, earning him nicknames such as the “Red Envelope King” and “God of Generosity” among netizens.

On February 16, 2026, Chen distributed multiple red envelopes throughout his livestream, with the highest single amount reaching 49,999.99 yuan.

More than 50,000 users reportedly received a share. Over the past three years, the cumulative amount he has given out during Lunar New Year celebrations has approached 900,000 yuan, marking one of the largest ongoing celebrity giveaway traditions in Chinese entertainment.

What stood out most was the lack of participation restrictions. The red envelopes were open to everyone, including casual viewers and even critics.

When some fans suggested limiting access exclusively to supporters, Chen humorously replied, “Don’t control my life,” before increasing the number of red envelopes distributed.

The rapid and repeated transactions were so frequent that they reportedly triggered an automated review by the national anti-fraud monitoring system.

As a result, Chen became the first domestic entertainment figure to spark a system alert due to high-volume red envelope distribution.

Beyond the impressive financial scale, Chen Zheyuan gained even more admiration for his down-to-earth and witty personality.

He jokingly shared that he failed to grab his own red envelope and comforted viewers who also missed out. His warm and emotionally intelligent response further strengthened his positive public image.
