Chinese actor Zhang Yunlong is making headlines once again, this time for his passion for football rather than his acting projects.
During a recent football exhibition event, the Dalian team, led by Zhang Yunlong alongside Liu Yang, Wang Wei, and Cao Yifu, secured victory and earned tickets to attend the upcoming World Cup final.
The achievement has reignited public interest in Zhang’s lesser-known background as a former football player.
Before entering the entertainment industry, he spent 13 years pursuing football and competed at the youth level.
His journey began on his very first day of elementary school when a coach selected him to join the school football team.
From there, he progressed through club football, eventually joining the youth academy of Dalian Shide before transferring to Beijing Baxy, where he played in professional youth competitions.
Although he is now best known as an actor, Zhang has never left football behind.
He has attended matches in the Jiangsu Super League and participated in the widely popular Guizhou Village Super League, also known as Cun Chao.
